Speaking at a discussion held at the Cox's Bazar Press Club, Religious Advisor Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain stated, "We aim to establish a voting culture. Alongside state reform, the government will work on improving law and order, creating a level playing field for political parties, and updating voter registration. Only after that will we hold elections, ensuring that all political parties can participate."
He made these comments during a meeting with journalists on Friday (October 18). The Religious Advisor further noted, "The government has started working in a challenging situation. The country's voting culture has been compromised, and we want to restore it."
He added, "There must be justice for those who lost their lives in the student-people uprising. Enforced disappearances and killings are unforgivable crimes in a democratic state."
According to the latest reports from the July-August movement, 752 people have been martyred, although the actual number may exceed a thousand. Their identities will be verified.
