Eight people have died from dengue fever.

In the last 24 hours, the dengue outbreak has escalated, with at least eight patients succumbing to the illness and 1,108 new hospitalizations reported. The deaths were distributed across several regions: one each occurred in Barishal, Chattogram, and Dhaka divisions, while the remaining fatalities were recorded within Dhaka city itself.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), these recent fatalities and hospitalizations have increased the total death toll to 223. Additionally, the number of confirmed dengue cases has surged to 44,764. Notably, 25,597 of these cases have been reported from areas outside of Dhaka, highlighting the widespread nature of the outbreak.

As of now, there are 3,680 patients currently receiving treatment for dengue, indicating the ongoing strain on healthcare resources. Encouragingly, a total of 40,861 patients have been successfully discharged from hospitals up to yesterday, reflecting the effectiveness of treatment and care provided to those affected. The situation underscores the urgent need for continued public health efforts to manage and mitigate the dengue outbreak in both urban and rural areas.
